30,000 Hours

By the time a typical American student graduates from high school today, he or she will have spent more than 30,000 hours in front of a screen (including video games, tablets, laptops, and TVs).Any guess how long it takes to read the entire Bible—all 66 books? It takes just 80 hours." Rick Warren
Those 30,000 hours in front of a screen mostly teach things like “you do you”, “follow your heart”, "trickery", "competition", sexual immorality, with a little education at school on the screen. “The human heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?” (Jer 17:9) Here’s the problem. Following OUR heart instead of God’s heart leads to self-destruction and much long-term unhappiness after the immediate thrill. Smoking that dope on a Saturday night will eventually lead to lawlessness and jail or death. It doesn't end in laughs like the tv sitcoms. Telling lies to your parents to sneak out for Saturday night "fun" can lead to loss of freedom when you are caught or unwanted pregnancy or establishes a dangerous pattern of lying you may try again later in life.
How can we know God’s heart? He pours it out to us with passion and love in the Bible. In 4 years of high school it only takes 3 ½ minutes every day to read thru all of God’s love letter to us. Take the challenge to spend 80 hours to read the Bible this year. You’ll peek into the life of bullies, liars, murderers, plots to overthrow governments. God amazingly changes many of those people to become leaders for his work. You will learn how the world was created and what responsibilities God expects from us and more importantly how you can change your life to follow God’s heart instead of your own heart. Be bold. Be adventurous. Just Do It. Download the app and see how different your year will be next year if read thru the Bible this year. You overachievers can spend 10 minutes a day and read it in 2 years or less!!
